Fishing in the Ucluelet/Ucluelet region is well worth the cost. While June/July/August are the best months for fishing and weather, you can catch salmon here all year round. Ucluelet gets more walk-in traffic because of the number of tourists visiting the area while Ucluelet is a known destination spot of salmon and halibut fishing. You can get good fishing in both places.
Whale watching in Ucluelet is mostly done from March to late September. You can see gray and humpback whales here while occasionally getting a chance to see and orca. The humpback whales are the most spectacular and if you get to see one breach the water, it is a real treat.
Bear watching is best during spring and early summer months. Whale watching tours will take you in the inlets to watch black bears and the cubs walking the shores. You will also see seals and eagles and other birds while on these tours.
Hot Springs Tours
Hot Springs Tours are worth the trip. You get to walk a board walk though an old growth forest and experience naturally heated hot springs pools that are right next to the ocean. At high tide the ocean water comes and mixes with the hot water. Temperature is about 41C.
Water Taxis will take you anywhere you need to go in the Ucluelet inlets. They may even be able to take you on private tours depending on size of outfit and scheduling. If they can do private tours, fishing charters may be able to take you where you need to go if you are looking for a few hours at sea. It would be best to call ahead to book.
